About Entertaiment:
The word entertainment comes from the Medieval Latin entertain, or “to hold inside,” or intertenere (the prefix inter means “inside,” and the suffix tenere, from the Indo-European root ten, meaning to stretch). Its definition has since expanded to include any activity that holds one’s attention and interest, gives pleasure and delight, or provides distraction. Numerous institutions, individuals and foundations contribute to our societal need for entertainment. One example is the Entertainment Industry Foundation, which recently announced a new funding initiative called SU2C that will bring together top scientists from around the world and accelerate cancer breakthroughs.
