What Are Business Services?

Business services

Business services are the actions/activities that help companies but do not always result in a tangible product. Large businesses rely on them for all aspects of their operation, and they can cover a huge range of areas that goods or products can’t do.

There are a lot of different types of business services, and they can be used in both B2B and B2C environments. These include transportation, waste handling, staffing and security, among others.

Whether you’re in a service-based industry or an established business, you’ll need to have good interpersonal skills and be competent at fulfilling your customers’ needs. This will make it easier for you to retain your clients and encourage them to refer you to other people they know who may need your services.

The value of a service is intangible, and it can take time to build up a good reputation. That’s why you should invest in marketing and advertising.

A service that is offered at a fair price will be attractive to customers. If it’s delivered in a timely manner, and it’s accompanied by good customer service, your customers will come back to you again and again.

You can add a business service to your account by logging into your globalEDGE dashboard. To do this, navigate to the Services Business Services page and click New Service. In the Name box, enter a meaningful name for your business service.

Once you’ve created a service, you can assign it a Team. This will let you manage this service’s priorities, as well as its health metrics.

Your business service will be listed on an external status page and within a service catalog/CMDB. You can also set it to appear on a status dashboard so that non-technical stakeholders can see when incidents impact it.

The following services are examples of business services that you can add to your globalEDGE dashboard:

Technical Services

Tech support workers work with individuals and businesses to troubleshoot computers, networks and other technology issues. These professionals provide prompt solutions so that employees can remain productive and avoid interruptions.

Maintenance Services

Companies need maintenance service professionals to repair appliances and other malfunctioning equipment. They also ensure that workplaces are clean and free of damage.

Delivery Services

Delivering essential supplies is a common business service. These services help companies save time and money by delivering essential products directly to employees.

Animal Control or Pest Extermination

Company owners use pest control professionals to control and get rid of a variety of animals, from rodents to birds. This helps companies avoid citations and keep their workplace safe from pests.

Utility Services

Having adequate water, gas and electricity is critical for businesses. These utilities can be costly to maintain, and they’re often provided by different companies.

Personal Services

Many companies hire a personal service to host employee events and activities. These services can range from workout facilities to relaxation rooms, and some even offer transportation for their clients.

If you’re thinking about starting a business, it’s important to know what services you want to offer. Ideally, you’ll choose something that you already have expertise in or know that there’s a demand for it. You can then start researching the market and finding out what kind of services are available to meet that demand.
